Princes and Lords learn to survive with this art, in earnest and in play. But if you are fearful, then you should not learn to fence. Because a despondent heart will always be defeated, regardless of all skill.

- Fechtmeister Sigmund Ringeck, 1440

Sometimes you will be as an extinguished light: do not doubt, you will soon be back. To gain the Art, not the old but the new, no effort was too great and very happy I am of having found it. I keep it secret, but as I let it go, I swear, it gives me riches and so it happens to those having this virtue.

-Fillipo Vadi, Liber de Arte Gladitoria de Dimicandi

Fechter Jacob Mcdonald

Jacob has been studying martial arts all his life. From the age of 5, his father taught him boxing with elements of isshinryu karate. Jacob then went on to learn Brazilian Jiu Jitsu and submission wrestling during high school. Hungry for more knowledge, he continued to learn and work with his college wrestling club. However, it was in college that he got his first taste of swords. As a martial artist and a theatre student, he went into stage combat. Unsatisfied with choreographed fighting, Jacob searched for new avenues of martial arts.
After years of independently studying various western martial arts such as pankration and glima, he finally found Cymbrogi. Jacob is now obsessed with Kunst Des Fechten and holds the rank of Fechter under Jeremy Pace.

Jacob has competed in the following Tournaments:

Lone Star Open 2016 (Top 8)

WEIRD Open 2017 Top 8 Longsword and 3rd place Sword and Buckler
